How to Use ChatGPT to Find Freelance Work

Illustration of a job search in ChatGPT

Many of my friends and former colleagues are looking for new freelance work right now. I figure whatever gives you a boost is worth trying.

I keep an eye out for opportunities all the time. And when I tried Deep Research and ChatGPT 4o, I found 3 jobs I have not seen pop up on LinkedIn.

Here's what I asked:

"Research influencer marketing tools that are looking for freelance content writers or editors."

Replace the industry type with your own niche. (Not the best prompt I've ever written, but I didn't expect it to work.)

Here's what ChatGPT found for me. Company names, links, and contact details have been removed:

Job Opportunities

Job Opportunities

Company Opportunity Role

Influencer marketing & PR Freelance Content Writer/ Creator Writing SEO-optimized articles, product descriptions, and social media content for brand campaigns. Involves blogging, copywriting and content creation in influencer marketing campaigns. (Flexible remote role.)
Video-first digital & influencer marketing Freelance Content Writer (Contributor) Contribute to content projects on a freelance basis. Work may include blog articles, campaign copy, and creative content for clients' influencer marketing campaigns. These are all real jobs, although one had closed when I checked it.

That's likely down to cached search results rather than a hallucination - the link was correct.

I hope this helps someone find opportunities that they may not have found via normal freelance portals or social media sites.

(Just a quick one today due to end of quarter deadlines. Back to normal next week!)
